Chat also needs to send messages to the KAutodial client, so we can know whether it is dialing, whether the line is busy, etc. To do this, kautodial-chat uses four directives to send messages to the client:
REPORT STRINGS: This works exactly like chat's REPORT directive, except that it also checks if it should send information to the KAutodial client. You must include REPORT CONNECT in your chatscript if you want KAutodial to display the connection speed.
KAUTODIAL_MODEMINIT ON: This causes KAutodial to display the "Initializing modem..." message. It only takes the complement ON
KAUTODIAL_DIAL NUMBER: This causes KAutodial to display the "Dialing [your number]" message.
DCOP_COMMAND COMMAND: This tells kautodial-chat the location of dcop and its base options. If this option is not set, kautodial-chat defaults to "dcop --all-users --all-sessions kautodial kautodialIface".
Here is an example configuration:
REPORT CONNECT ABORT BUSY ABORT 'NO CARRIER' ABORT VOICE ABORT 'NO DIALTONE' ABORT 'NO DIAL TONE' ABORT 'NO ANSWER' KAUTODIAL_MODEMINIT ON '' ATM0 KAUTODIAL_DIAL "(555) 555-1212" OK-AT-OK ATDT5551212 CONNECT \d\c
